Beauty Gals: The LUSH Spa has arrived

Yes, my loves. LUSH took their LUSH Spa concept and decided to bring it to North America by opening two spas in New York City and Philadelphia. As someone who works closely with retail and leasing inside Center City, I am so grateful and excited that such an amazing company brought their spa vision to our city. It was HUGE to find out about this best, kept beauty secret and I was thrilled to attend the LUSH Spa event last week. We were given a tour of the facility and got to see five out of the seven treatments live.

Walnut KitchenI loved the kitchen at the LUSH Spa, all of the decor was picked from the best UK antique stores and markets, which took me back to my study abroad days in England. There is just something so simple and quaint about the decor picked for the spa, you feel like you are at home.

Celeb Report: Jennifer Lawrence

jennifer-lawrence-dress-1_MTVStyleWhen Jennifer Lawrence fell walking up the Academy Award stage last year to grab her Oscar for Best Actress not only did she win America’s heart, she also won over my heart. Like most twenty-somethings, I really do love Jennifer Lawrence. She’s hysterical, acknowledges her awkwardness, beautiful and I love her wardrobe. Of course with Catching Fire coming out in theaters this week and the new X-Men trailer debuting this month, Lawrence was a no brainer to write about.

Hunger Games Catching FireI am so excited to see all the entire wardrobe in Catching Fire, I just can’t seem to contain myself.

Also, can I mention my love of Dior. Oh and Jennifer Lawrence is the face of Miss Dior? More reasons to love her and support her spectacular acting career.

My Week with Marilyn

I may be giving the wrong title to a Michelle Williams movie, but it works for this blog post. Last week as I was scrolling around on the internet, I scrolled across the headline “Michelle Williams & Vuitton Make Campaign Magic“. Of course to pique my curiosity I clicked away since I love seeing new fashion ads, I LOVED this new campaign.

I think Michelle Williams looks perfect and embodies a lot of great qualities in a Fall campaign. A chic black gown, dark burgundy lips and her hair looks textured and amazing. I actually send her photo over to a friend that rocks a pixie hair cut stating that she could absolutely pull off this “longer” due. Also, the bag?! In my wildest dreams I’ll have a Louis, don’t ask me why, I have just always wanted my own LV bag.

Below is a list of some of my favorite Michelle Williams movies and TV Shows:

Hot Child in the City

How was everyone’s week? I was lucky enough to attend two great events this week both unfortunately on scorching hot days in Philadelphia. (Hot child in the city, is an understatement).

On Wednesday, I headed over to Sampan for the first Philly Blog Love happy hour. It was great to finally see all of the fellow bloggers that I was able to connect with over the past few months in person and on social! Philly Blog Love is a brand new society in Philadelphia for fashion, beauty and lifestyle writers – its an honor to be included in such a talented group of writers!

Thursday, I officially registered for Diner En Blanc dans Philadelphia! I have been waiting an entire year to register for this 2nd annual event and now I need to start creating the perfect table setting for dinner on August 22nd. I was lucky enough to host the first stop on the Diner En Blanc media tour at my job too! I may have lucked out before the site crashed.

Thursday night I attended a party I hope that Jay Gatsby would have been proud of. The annual Philadelphia Style Magazine Best of Style party was held at Vie on North Broad Street and it was a blast! I got to bust out a vintage one piece jumper that I found at Decades Vintage in Queen Village. Pocket square and fancy tie were found at Jos. A. Bank at The Shops at Liberty Place (SLP is a winner of Best of Style!)

Now its the weekend! I’m heading out to the suburbs for a little beauty day and then running in the Electric Run in Fairmount Park tonight. Tomorrow I’ll be heading over to Water Works for their 7th anniversary brunch (which only cost $7 per person, what a steal!)

Band Alert: Tame Impala

Tonight I’m heading over to the Electric Factory with the boyfriend to see one of his favorite bands, Tame Impala. I am always up for trying new music even if its a genre that I don’t typically listen to like psychedelic rock. However, I will take music suggestions from someone who has been playing the bass since he was six years old 🙂

I decided to look up the Australian natives to find some photo shoots that they participated in for music magazines, online zines and album art obviously. If their music is psychadelic rock, their photographs also follow suit with faded editing giving the photos a late 1970’s feel.

Style Reader

Last week, I had lunch with two friends who work in digital media and a huge portion of our conversation was “How do people access their news?” Does everyone have a social media schedule of when they check their emails, texts, blogs, tweets, vines, facebook timelines, pinterest boards, etc etc etc?! From dabbling in style writing for almost 8 months now, I need to be up to date on all of the latest trends, celeb collaborations, and events coming up in Philadelphia are to provide you my lovely readers with content.

kate spade tech 5

When do I conduct my digital media intake? Here is a break down of what I typically like to do, even though I wish I could master a schedule like Jenna Lyons of J. Crew. (Now she IS super woman).

7:00 AM: Check all emails, texts from the night before and scroll through Instagram, Twitter and Facebook notifications. (If I respond to your text message this early, I apologize. I just really like being responsive or I will forget).

8:10 AM: Riding my morning commute to work in Center City, I look back through all news articles I find on Twitter through the following outlets: HuffPostStyle, MTV Style, Refinery 29, Uwishunu, Racked Philly and then respond to any other tweets that come across my way.

9:00 AM: Its Feedly time! From the switch to Feedly from Google Reader, I have all of the blogs I read categorized so I know where I can access new blog posts each morning. This usually takes about 30 minutes of my morning, but since I open up my office every day, I consider this my time to map out new ideas.

12:00 PM, 3:00 PM: Its lunch time and break time! A quick scroll through all of my social media outlets to see any announcements or breaking news.

8:30 PM: I update my Pinterest and Tumblr accounts around this time, so then all of my social media platforms have a constant presence.

10:00 PM: The last scroll through of all my social media and then off to catch my beauty sleep.

How do you keep up to date with all of your social media platforms?
