It has been such a busy and freezing week! The temperatures were below 10 degrees in Philadelphia since Monday and thank goodness for such a beautiful weekend to make up it. This week I was able to attend a tasting of the new Yard’s Seasonal Beer, Rye and attend the premiere party of the new LUSH Spa last night (posts coming soon!). All weekend I plan on hitting the gym (possibly shopping this sale) and I’m going to see the Philadelphia Orchestra perform tomorrow evening as well! Scored some amazing seats from the PECO Power Hour opportunity back in December, can’t beat orchestra pit tickets for only $10 a pop.
Also, glorious Red Carpet season starts on Sunday! Are you looking forward to the Golden Globes? Who do you want to win? Tell me! I am sure to be live tweeting during the whole affair, hopefully you can join me. AND the premiere of GIRLS is back ::fan girl scream:: I’ll be glued to my couch all evening. What are you up to this weekend?

Happy New Year’s Eve! I am so excited to ring in the new year at Union Transfer this evening for the Making Time New Year’s Eve 2K13(14) show. This year, I’m attempting to try something new (forgive me sequins) a little black dress with mesh cut outs for the big night out. I’m pairing my dress with little black booties, my Swarovski spiral ring and H&M chandelier earrings. I scored a pair of American Apparel sparkle tights over the weekend (buy 2, get 1 half off!) that way I can keep up my sparkly tradition.
Whatever you do tonight, I hope you have a great New Year’s Eve ringing in 2014!
Merry Christmas to all of my friends and family that celebrate! I’m tucked away in South Jersey, just enjoying the day off with my family. My favorite present comes tomorrow and I just can’t wait to see him!
Without further to do, I am flinging myself into project mode because in only 16 days its going to be New Year’ s Day! Yes, I am counting down to New Year’s Day one of the best days to live in Philadelphia, specifically South Philly and even better my neighborhood – 2 Street.
If you are new to Philadelphia and have never graced Broad Street the amazing Mummer’s Parade takes place every year and then the real festivities occur later on in the evening. This annual tradition is a huge family day in South Philly with tons to eat and not a beer to spare. This year, I am throwing a little shin dig with my roommate and I have menus to prepare, alcohol to purchase and some DIY crafts that I hope to be successful at. Below is all of my inspiration, wish me luck! (Also, shout out to Emily from Her Philly for posting the Fine Wine & Good Spirits Quantity Calculator yesterday)
Scott is planning on making a delicious Hendricks Gin Punch, except the recipe escapes me, I’ll have to repost it for you all once we get closer to the party! Have you thought about New Year’s Party Plans yet?
What a week – two back to back Tree Lightings, Q102’s Jingle Ball, Prohibition Repeal Day and to kick off the weekend I’m heading over to Union Transfer for the Phantogram show! Also, I did some Cyber Monday shopping and Forever 21, ASOS and Amazon all hit my credit card, but I think I stayed under my $100 limit. Phew! I’m looking forward to a fun filled weekend because on Sunday, Scott and I are going to the Eagles game too, cross your fingers that I don’t freeze away due to the cold and that the home team wins!

Over the weekend, Alma de Cuba, one of the many Stephen Starr restaurants in Philadelphia premiered Pop Star Brunch. I had a girlfriend coming in from out of town (Starr fanatic) and a boyfriend who loves Alma de Cuba so … Continue reading →
This post is an ode to Régine Chassagne, wife, musician and fellow owner of amazing sequin tunics just like me. If you didn’t know, Régine, is in the amazing Canadian band, Arcade Fire. [Flash back to the 2011 Grammy’s when everyone had no idea who the band was when they took home the Grammy for Album of the Year. However, I did – my minor pretentious moment] I am sooooooo excited that Arcade Fire is coming to Philadelphia in March, I just can’t contain myself and get this Scott won tickets from Radio 104.5! Apparently, Arcade Fire has requested that all attendees either come in formal wear or costumes so I have about 4 months to decide on the perfect outfit. Obviously, I’m going to try and recreate my girl Régine’s sequin apparel look. Thrift stores, I’m coming for you.
So Régine is French Canadian and I’m French and Canadian which means…
…we must be kindred spirits, right? Since who doesn’t want a sequined blazer?! In sequins and good music, we trust.
