One of my dear friends and more daring fashionista friends, Kelly Reid, is the first guest blogger for Style Wallflower. She was able to attend the seventh annual TEEN VOGUE Fashion University and kindly wrote a recap of her weekend.
My name is Kelly, I am a student Temple University, studying advertising account management. I spent the summer before senior year of college interning at TEEN VOGUE, where I was immersed into the fashion industry. After preparing for Fashion University ever since then, I had the opportunity last weekend to work it.
The weekend started with a kick off party on Friday night at H&M with a DJ, live band, and a %25 off shopping discount for all of the girls. The event was closed for Fashion U students only. I worked the DIY bracelet table at the event, where students could make their very own stud bracelets after a minimum purchase of $45. This was not hard for them to accomplish at all!
Saturday, October 20th was the day of TEEN VOGUE’S seventh annual Fashion University where more than 500 accepted fashionistas arrived with enormous smiles on their faces. Here, they discovered the in’s and out’s of the fashion industry during seminars hosted by many famous designers, bloggers, and entrepreneurs. Some of the few guests included: Grace Coddington, Bryan Boy, Erin Fetherston, Amy Astley, and Phillip Lim.
Finally, Saturday night consisted of another event at Top Shop in SoHo. I was lucky enough to work the photo booth at the front door. Girls were once again given a discout and we had many fun promotions going on such as a make over station and free make up just for tweeting.
